How many ANSI Lumen do your projectors have?

With Urban Mapping, we always make a detailed simulation of the project before we make an offer.

With this simulation we calculate exactly how much light intensity we need for a qualitative projection.
We put together our projection installations on the basis of this calculation. How many ANSI Lumen we use therefore depends on the project.

What should I provide as a client for a video mapping project?

At Urban Mapping we want to relievethe client of all worries.

The client is only responsible for: -
Permits to enter the public domain -
Parking permits for our technicians -
Power supply
- Extinguishing disruptive ambient lighting

Can video mapping be done simultaneously on several buildings?

The projection system of Urban Mapping is modular and widely applicable.

Systems can be linked together to create very large projection surfaces (e.g. an entire market square) or multiple installations can be placed throughout the city (e.g. for audiovisual city walks).

Where are you located?

You can find us at our office at Plein 15b, Kortrijk, Belgium.
Our warehouse is located in Kuurne.

In which area do you offer video mapping?

We offer video mapping in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Luxembourg.

Our insurance covers all neighbouring countries in addition to Belgium.

Can local organisations, artists, associations, schools, academies... be involved in a video mapping project?

At Urban Mapping we are always open to collaborating with local organisations.

Through workshops we can guide organisations in the design of their own unique content with a local character.

Does Urban Mapping work on sustainability?

Sustainability is important to Urban Mapping:

- Our installations are modular and are always configured according to the needs of the project. We do this by means of an accurate 3D simulation. This way we don't lose any light intensity and we don't have any unnecessary power consumption

- We use projectors with LASER technology - this technology extends the lifespan of the projectors considerably and reduces power consumption

- Our modular video mapping installation consumes up to 3 times less power thanalternatives

- Our video mapping installations are designed in such a way that delivery and installation is possible with vans. We have invested in vans that comply with the latest EURO 6D environmental standards.

- By using vans, we do not need to use trucks and we avoid as much inconvenience as possible during set-up and take-down in city centres.

- Our elegant and modular video mapping system reduces visual 'pollution' in public spaces.

Can projectors be used outdoors in all weather conditions?

In general, projectors are not suitable to be used in all weather conditions.

That's why we at Urban Mapping have developed our own outdoor enclosure for our projectors.
These enclosures are fully air-conditioned (heating, cooling, ventilation...) and waterproof so that our projectors can be used outdoors in all weather conditions.

How much does video mapping cost?

Video mapping is custom work, every project is unique. It is therefore very difficult to simply place a budget on it.
Every project consists of three important parts:

- Content: the animation that will be shown

- Hardware: the technical installation that is needed to realise the project in a qualitative way and the duration of the project

- Coordination and logistics: the preparations, delivery, construction and dismantling.

Does it have to be dark for video mapping?

The sun has an enormous light output. Unfortunately, no projector can match this.

Generally speaking, a video mapping show can start qualitatively after dusk.
In winter, this is about 25 minutes after sunset, in summer about an hour after sunset.

How far in advance should I apply for a project?

At Urban Mapping we can switch quickly. We have designed our hardware in such a way that we can calculate, build and dismantle projections very quickly.

But of course every building remains unique. Depending on your wishes, we may have to rework an existing animation for your building(s) or design completely unique animations.
A rework can be produced fairly quickly (minimum 3 weeks production time) but developing new animations requires a bit more production time (minimum 5 weeks to several months).

What is Urban Mapping?

Urban mapping is a form of projection mapping that involves projecting onto buildings in an urban environment.

Common terms are building projections, 3D building projections, architectural projections...
This can be a show on a single building or an audiovisual walk where a story is spread over several buildings.

Can video mapping be done for several days or weeks?

Yes Urban Mapping developed its own projection system to enable video mapping for longer periods of time.

Our system can work in all weather conditions, is vandal-proof and works completely autonomously.
Moreover, insurance is included in the price so, as a client, you don't have to worry about it.

What is video mapping or projection mapping?

Video mapping, projection mapping or 3D mapping is a form of augmented reality or AR.

It is a projection technique whereby animations are projected onto an irregular surface.
For example, a building, a car or any other object.
Thanks to the perfect adjustment between the projection and the object, the objects can be brought to life with light.
