ROA - The Crystal Ship By Night

Alexander Stragier / Limen Visual was invited by All About Things to design two lighting installations for The Crystal Ship by Night.

The first video mapping projection gives ROA's work an extra dimension after sunset.
The dynamic lighting makes the work even more monumental.

The projection was realised with the Urban Mapping outdoor projection system.

Art trail with light installations 'The Crystal Ship by Night

As from Saturday 19 December, the city of Ostend organises "The Crystal Ship by Night", a route with street art and light installations. Visitors can visit the route for free during the entire Christmas holidays.

Because of corona, the annual art festival "The Crystal Ship" was cancelled in April. This Christmas holiday, Ostend offers a coronaproof alternative, with "The Crystal Ship by Night". The route consists of illuminated street art, light installations and neon projections. In addition, during the first edition of this trail, existing artworks of previous editions of "The Crystal Ship" and new artworks will be highlighted.

"We deliberately chose a good spread of locations and after consultation with experts in crowd control we designed a safe route. As a visitor you should first check the website and the Facebook page to be able to assess whether a busy evening is expected. At the sixteen locations stewards will ensure a good spread of the public," says Mayor Bart Tommelein (Open Vld).

"The Crystal Ship by Night" is free to visit from December 19 to January 3, each time between 5 and 10 pm. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve the installations are not activated.
